Kaos Exibition: Holy Trinity of Katie

After investigating colour dynamics, the self-portraits were then developed using red and blue tones. Furthermore, this allowed a reflection on how the colour is applied to canvas, inspired by Tracy Emin’s use of negative space and abstract brushstrokes. In the portraits detailed brushstrokes were used for face, whilst the body and hands were created with a pallet knife; demonstrating movement with gestures.

Three portraits that use an acrylic base with oil lightly applied over the top. These self portraits depict the begining of ‘Holy trinity of katie’. Upon reflection, the subtle understones of red and blue in the portraits intrigued me, and lead to researching colour theory within Amy Sillman’s book, Faux Pa.
